The Junk Liveaboard was built in 1962 in Penang, Malaysia, for charcoal transportation. She is a 30m, 140-ton two-mast junk with 330 square meters of sails. She is constructed from teakwood throughout. The trees cut for the two masts that rise 23m above the deck, date back over 300 years. According to legend, the June Hong Chian Lee (Respect Wind Travel Forever) has a murky past with stories of pirate cargo hidden beneath the charcoal carried in her hold.
Now the junk has been renovated to meet modern standards and redesigned to serve as a classic yacht.
